X-Men, the saga of the most popular mutants in cinema, comes to an end – at least for now – with the film The New Mutants, which stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Blu Hunt, Charlie Heaton and Henry Back.
She tells us about five boys who will discover their powers while they are confined in a secret facility from which they cannot escape and will fight to overcome their fears and save themselves.
Perhaps we can name the good films of the X-Men saga and count them with the fingers of one of our hands, in my case the list would be: X-Men (2000), X-Men 2 (2003), X-Men: First Generation (2011), Logan (2017) and Deadpool (2016).
This year comes after countless delays due to re-recordings, Disney’s purchase of Fox and the global COVID-19 pandemic. Review “The New Mutants” with Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams The New Mutants could have been a different, interesting and solid movie, if they hadn’t been afraid of the story.
When a tape suffers from re-recording you should not expect many good things, as it is quite likely that the original idea was lost along the way. This was exactly what happened with The New Mutants.
At the beginning, when it was announced, this was going to be the first (mutant) horror superhero movie and if you see the first trailer you say “WOW! There is something that can turn out very well there ”, but then Fox decided to do re-recordings and later it passed into the hands of Disney, whose executives possibly said:“ Eeh, no, we cannot present this like that ”and they did re-recordings again, to introduce us this result.
A feature film that has no history, that tries to tell something, but in the end it does not tell anything, although with incredible characters. And then Who can be blamed? Well, nobody, we will never know whose error it was, but you can realize that there was much that was lost in the edition, because the gaps in history are basically black holes.
The best thing is that The New Mutants brings us characters with very interesting powers that we had not seen before The New Mutants I hope Disney will venture to do something with my favorite character, Illy (Anya Taylor-Joy) – but we can also see powers that We have already seen it again and again.
You can also see that they were afraid of making it too terrifying, because the moments in which they used terror worked and if it had had a better development, it might have been able to sustain itself.
The main problem with the film is that there was a MISSING STORY AND LOGIC, so it is a boring and not very memorable result. This farewell is unfortunate, but it should not surprise us, X-Men is a saga that has been in free fall for quite some time.
However, you can watch it and enjoy it for a while, it is not the worst movie of the year, but you will not remember it for next year, or maybe not even in a month.
